Treatments & procedures

From minimally invasive endovascular techniques to open surgery, treatment is recommended on clinical suitability and long-term benefit, never on one method alone.

Minimally invasive endovascular procedures

Treating vascular disease from inside the vessel through small punctures.

Angioplasty & Stenting

Angioplasty and stenting are minimally invasive endovascular procedures that improve blood flow through narrowed or blocked arteries and veins.

Endovascular Aneurysm Repair (EVAR & TEVAR)

Endovascular aneurysm repair treats an aortic aneurysm by placing a stent graft inside the aorta through the arteries, avoiding a large abdominal or chest incision.

Thrombectomy & Thrombolysis

Thrombectomy and thrombolysis remove or dissolve blood clots from arteries, veins, bypass grafts and dialysis access circuits.

Carotid Stenting (TCAR)

Carotid stenting treats significant narrowing of the carotid artery by placing a stent across the plaque, with the objective of reducing stroke risk in appropriately selected patients.

Open vascular surgery

Tried and tested operations with excellent long-term results for the right patients.

Bypass Surgery

Vascular bypass surgery creates a new route for blood around a blocked or severely narrowed artery.

Carotid Endarterectomy

Carotid endarterectomy is an operation that removes atherosclerotic plaque from a narrowed carotid artery to reduce the risk of stroke.

Open Aneurysm Repair

Open aneurysm repair replaces a weakened section of artery with a surgical graft.

Thoracic Outlet Decompression

Thoracic outlet decompression is surgery to relieve pressure on the nerves, veins or arteries passing from the neck into the arm.

Vein treatments

Modern varicose and spider vein care, from ablation to sclerotherapy.

Varicose Vein Treatment

Modern varicose vein treatment targets the underlying vein reflux through small punctures rather than traditional vein stripping.

Sclerotherapy & Spider Vein Treatment

Sclerotherapy treats spider veins and small varicose veins by injecting a medication that irritates the inner lining of the vessel, causing it to close and be gradually reabsorbed by the body.

Dialysis access

Creating and maintaining reliable access for haemodialysis.

Dialysis Access Surgery

Haemodialysis requires reliable access to the bloodstream so blood can pass through the dialysis machine and return to the body.

Fistulogram & Fistuloplasty

A fistulogram is an X-ray examination of a dialysis fistula or graft using contrast.

Surgical access procedures

Supporting spinal and cardiac colleagues with safe surgical access.

Anterior Spinal Access Surgery (ALIF)

Anterior lumbar interbody fusion (ALIF) approaches the lumbar spine through the abdomen.

Cardiac Access Surgery (TAVI)

Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) usually reaches the heart through the femoral artery in the groin.

Diagnostic imaging

Vascular ultrasound and intravascular imaging that guide every decision.

Vascular Ultrasound

Vascular ultrasound is a non-invasive test that uses sound waves to assess arteries and veins.

Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS)

Intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) uses a miniature ultrasound probe mounted on a catheter to create images from inside a blood vessel.
