Overview
A/Prof Geoff Lester is a Melbourne-based consultant physician specialising in vascular, perioperative, internal and aortic medicine. He provides integrated medical care for patients with complex cardiovascular and vascular disease who need coordinated management across multiple specialties. He is the only Australian physician to hold a European Master of Vascular Medicine together with certification in Vascular Sonography Interpretation.
After completing a Bachelor of Business (Economics), he graduated in Medicine from the University of Wollongong in 2015. During training he gained experience in vascular surgery at the Cleveland Clinic (USA) and completed physician training at major tertiary centres including Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, MonashHeart, the Victorian Heart Hospital and The Alfred Hospital. He was awarded FRACP in General and Acute Care Medicine in 2025, then completed post-fellowship training in vascular and perioperative medicine at The Alfred, where he now practises as a consultant specialist in complex aortic and peripheral vascular disease within the Marfan and Aortic Diseases Service.
He holds a Master of Public Health and a Master of Philosophy focused on the epidemiology and economic burden of thoracic aortic disease in Australia, and has authored peer-reviewed publications and presented at national and international scientific meetings. He is an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at Monash University and holds national roles including National Lead of the THINK Aorta ANZ campaign, National Ambassador for the Heart Foundation and non-executive director of Hearts4Heart. He is committed to patient-centred care and to making complex medical information clear and accessible.
