Overview
Dr David Goh was born and raised in Melbourne and completed the majority of his surgical training in Victoria. After graduating in Medicine from the University of New South Wales in 2005, he undertook extensive training in General and Vascular Surgery across leading hospitals in Melbourne and New Zealand. He was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in General Surgery in 2013, followed by Fellowship in Vascular Surgery in 2017.
Dr Goh holds both public and private appointments across Melbourne and Bendigo and welcomes referrals for the full spectrum of arterial, venous and dialysis access conditions. He is the Director and Head of the Vascular Surgery Unit at Northern Health, where he is committed to advancing high-quality, patient-centred vascular care.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Goh is actively involved in professional leadership and advocacy within vascular surgery. He serves as Chair of Relationships and Standards for the Australian and New Zealand Society for Vascular Surgery (ANZSVS), where he has played a key role in modernising the Vascular Surgery Medicare Benefits Schedule and contributing to the National Transport Commission's Assessing Fitness to Drive guidelines. He is also the Chief Financial Officer of Global Vascular Companionship (GVC), a not-for-profit organisation committed to advancing vascular surgical care, education and training in developing countries.
As Director of Vascular Surgery at Northern Health, Dr Goh has led the establishment of the hospital's multidisciplinary Diabetic Foot Unit, providing a coordinated model of care that has become an integral part of contemporary vascular practice. He also played a leading role in introducing the region's TransCarotid Artery Revascularisation (TCAR) program, expanding access to the latest minimally invasive treatment options for carotid artery disease.
Dr Goh is committed to practising evidence-based medicine and ensuring his patients benefit from the latest advances in vascular surgery. He regularly attends and presents at national and international conferences and remains actively involved in clinical research, including the first-in-human trial of a bioresorbable scaffold in the femoropopliteal segment at Northern Health. He convened the 2024 ANZSVS Annual Scientific Meeting in Melbourne, themed Diversity, Equality and Responsibility in Vascular Surgery, and has authored numerous peer-reviewed scientific publications. In 2026, he was invited to join the expert panel for Wounds Australia's Beat the Swell campaign and is currently contributing to the revision of the Australian and New Zealand Clinical Practice Guidelines for Venous Leg Ulcers.
Education and mentorship are central to Dr Goh's practice. He is passionate about training the next generation of vascular surgeons and is actively involved in the education and supervision of junior doctors, registrars and vascular fellows at Northern Health, and was a co-developer and organising committee member of the Victorian Vascular Education Network.

Getting to know Dr Goh
Outside of work, David enjoys spending quality time with his wife and their three young children. Family is at the centre of his life, and he loves being an active and involved parent, whether that's supporting their extracurricular activities, exploring new places together or simply making the most of time at home. David also has a passion for travel and enjoys experiencing different cultures, discovering local cuisine and meeting people from around the world. A strong advocate for health and wellbeing, he keeps active through running and cycling, and one of his favourite travel traditions is an early morning run to explore a new city before it wakes. At home, he enjoys hosting family and friends for a weekend backyard barbecue and sharing his enthusiasm for motoring with fellow car enthusiasts on a relaxed Sunday drive.
